KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 18): Shell Malaysia said it is aware that there are scams offering the sale of real estate or Shell stations on social media and that the oil and gas company does not sell any real estate or Shell retail stations, or authorise such transactions.

"Please note that Shell Malaysia does not sell any real estate or Shell retail stations or authorise the same, and we certainly do not do so via social media and/or advertisements,” Shell Malaysia said In its latest clarification notice on the company’s website.

"We urge the public to remain vigilant and to always verify any information they receive to avoid falling victim to these scams.

"We continue to operate and manage our business in line with existing laws and regulations in Malaysia, and we remain committed to providing quality service to our customers,”  Shell Malaysia said.

Shell Malaysia, however did not specify in the notice, the names of the websites and social media accounts involved in the scams.
