KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 2): Tycoon Tan Sri Quek Leng Chan has stepped down as non-executive chairman of Hong Leong Capital Bhd (HLCB), effective today.

Quek,74, is replaced by incumbent non-executive director, Tan Kong Khoon, 60, who is currently president-cum-chief executive officer of Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (HLFG), according to the filing with Bursa Malaysia this evening.

HLCB said Quek’s resignation is in line with the group’s internal restructuring.

Quek has been chairman of HLCB since February 25, 1991. He also chairs Hong Leong Co (M) Bhd, HLFG, Hong Leong Bank Bhd and GuocoLand (M) Bhd.
