KUALA LUMPUR (March 27): The Prolintas Group of Companies has donated RM60,000 in cash and in kind to help medical front-liners battle the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as to mitigate the impact of the current partial lockdown on low-income households.

Among donations in kind were stethoscopes, wheelchairs, personal protective equipment (PPE) and pillows, which were given to four different hospitals, namely Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Hospital Sungai Buloh, Hospital Selayang and Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Selangor.

As for cash donations, these were extended to the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the University of Malaya Medical Centr (UMMC) to assist in providing PPE to medical front-liners.

“As Covid-19 cases increase throughout the country, we are committed to assist our communities during these unprecedented and challenging times,” said Prolintas group chief executive officer Datuk Mohammad Azlan Abdullah in a statement today.

“We are very concerned with the work pressure and difficulties faced by the front-liners, who are now fronting enormous challenges in preventing the widespread of the Covid-19 virus. These contributions are our efforts to address the immediate plight of the medical teams and deprived groups impacted by this virus,” he added.

Contributions to low-income households, meanwhile, were channeled via MERCY Malaysia and Serantau Muslim, two non-governmental organizations that are delivering essentials and food packs to families throughout the country.

“We also need to help the B40 communities whose livelihood were affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO). They have been hit hard during these pressing
times, and must come forward to support these families where possible. We hope these contributions will help reduce their burden," Mohammad Azlan added.

During the MCO, Prolintas has more than 200 workers manning its toll centres daily, to ensure smooth operations at all its highways – AKLEH, LKSA, GCE and KAJANG SILK.

It also updated that its highway operation hot lines remain open, while its patrol teams are on duty to help around the clock, in cases of emergencies.
