Pay outstanding water bills or face action, Syabas warns defaulters

KUALA LUMPUR: Consumers have been reminded to settle their outstanding water bills immediately to avoid termination of water supply as the enforcement operations against those with outstanding bills will begin on Jan 1. 

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) said in a statement that its enforcement teams will be visiting premises with outstanding water bills in the districts of Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, Sabak Bernam, Sepang, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat, Klang/Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor and Gombak.

“Customers who fail to settle the outstanding bills will be served with a notice of water supply termination.

“A termination fee of RM35 (excluding GST) and reconnection fee of RM35 (excluding GST) will be imposed on the customer, as gazetted by the National Water Services Commission under the Water Services Industry Act 2006, Water Services Industry Guidelines (Deposit, Fee and Service Charges) 2014,” the statement said.

Outstanding water bills can be paid at all Syabas offices, banks, other appointed agencies and through other facilities. For more information on the list of payment channels and facilities, go to www.syabas.com.my.
