KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 26): Malaysia had fully vaccinated 19.48 million people or 59.7% of its population against Covid-19 as of Saturday, official data showed.

A total of 22.72 million people or 69.6% of the population had received at least one dose of the vaccine, according to the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV).

In terms of the country's adult population, 83.1% had been fully vaccinated while 93.7% had received at least the first jab.

In the Klang Valley (comprising Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya), 85.3% of its population had received their first dose of the vaccine as of Saturday, while 79.9% had completed both doses.

The number of people who were administered the vaccine on Saturday was 259,141, comprising 114,618 individuals receiving their first dose and 144,523 individuals receiving their second dose.

Of the first doses administered on Saturday, Sabah led with 19,860 shots, followed by Sarawak (18,708), Selangor (10,819), Johor (9,586) and Kedah (9,345).

As for second doses, Johor topped the list with 28,286 jabs, followed by Pahang (18,134), Sabah (13,365) and Perak (13,295).
