KUALA LUMPUR (June 13): Malaysia Airlines Bhd (MAB) has asked all potential suppliers and vendors to comply with the group's commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices in order to be considered as suppliers and vendors to the airline.

A statement on MAB's website said the Supplier Code of Conduct (SCOC) provides the framework for acceptable conduct expected of all contractors, consultants, vendors/suppliers and all other third parties with respect to ESG practices. The five focus areas of its sustainability efforts are governance, economy, environment, social, and safety and security.

MAB's spokesperson on Monday (June 13) confirmed with theedgemarkets.com the current validity of the statement, which was originally published on its website on March 3.

"We expect all our suppliers/vendors to read, understand, and agree to comply with the above SCOC in order to be MAB's suppliers/vendors.

"During the registration process, we urge our suppliers/vendors to observe and comply with the ESG requirements."

For those suppliers/vendors that do not yet have ESG practices in place, MAB said they must have the intention to implement ESG practices in their businesses.

"All suppliers/vendors are encouraged to disclose current ESG practices by attaching the relevant documents to ESG in Supplier Profile Questionnaire in MAB Ariba system.

"Please be informed of our preference to potential or existing suppliers/vendors who are committed to adopting ESG in their company processes," it added.
