KUALA LUMPUR (April 16): No new red zones were reported so far as of noon yesterday, according to the statistics by the Health Ministry’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC).

Theedgemarkets.com reported yesterday that Muar had joined the red zone list after recording 44 cases, taking the total red zones in the country to 27. It is the fourth red zone located in Johor Bahru.

As of yesterday (April 15), Muar had two new infections, bringing the total infections in the district to 46. 

Meanwhile, Selangor recorded the highest number of confirmed infections with 1,316, or 26% of the country’s total number of infections (5,072), after adding 17 new infections followed by Kuala Lumpur with 926 cases or 18.3%.

Lembah Pantai in Kuala Lumpur remains the district with the highest number of confirmed infections — 577 cases or 11.4%. Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) have been executed in three parts of Lembah Pantai, including Selangor Mansion, Malayan Mansion and Menara City One due to high positive Covid-19 cases in those areas, while Hulu Langat has recorded 440 cases.

The third red zone with highest number of confirmed infections is Petaling with 363 cases, followed by other red zones in Peninsular Malaysia that include Seremban (262), Kluang (210), Johor Bahru (185), Klang (171), Gombak and Kepong — each with 142 cases, Titiwangsa (129), Kuantan (106), Kinta (93), Kota Bharu (90), Cheras (78), Jerantut (72), Jasin and Sepang — each with 68 cases, Hilir Perak (65), Putrajaya (54), Rembau (53), Batu Pahat (52), Melaka Tengah (51) and Hulu Selangor (49).

Kuching continues to lead in East Malaysia with the highest number of confirmed infections, 4.8% or 245 cases, while Tawau has 79 cases and Kota Samarahan (54).

Malaysia recorded the lowest number of daily new cases since the Movement Control Order (MCO) was implemented yesterday, with 85 cases, while the number of daily recoveries exceeded the number of daily infections for the seventh time with 169 cases. Total recoveries are now at 2,647.

The death toll climbed to 83 after one more death was reported — a Malaysian man aged 69 who had diabetes and high blood pressure.
