KUALA LUMPUR: The city will see the 16th incarnation of the country’s leading food industry event — the Malaysian International Food and Beverage Trade Fair (MIFB) 2015 — next month, which will see Kuala Lumpur playing host to the world’s leading buyers and suppliers in the food and beverage (F&B) sector.

To be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from June 11 to 13, the trade fair — touted to be the largest and most innovative food trade show ever — will welcome close to 20,000 attendees this year, 80% of which control the purse strings of some of the world’s leading F&B manufacturers.

In a statement, the organiser of the fair, Sphere Exhibits Malaysia Sdn Bhd, said MIFB 2015 offers a platform for those in the industry to gain some insights into new processes and technologies, future industry trends, consumer needs, ways to reduce costs as well as improving food safety, traceability and sustainability.

There will be some 300 exhibitors from 45 different countries and 12 international pavilions.

Some of the special features in this year’s fair include the international buyers’ programme, local buyers’ invitation programme and business matching sessions.

MIFB 2015 will also be held in conjunction with the country’s first International Seafood Safety and Trade Conference. Three hundred local and international delegates representing various segments of the seafood industry are expected to attend the two-day conference.

The event is also co-organised by Mutiara Sigma (M) Sdn Bhd.
