KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 9): Pharmaceutical company Hovid Bhd's share trade has been suspended today pending an announcement after the firm recalled its Ternolol 50mg film-coated tablets last Friday.

Today, Hovid said in a statement on Bursa Malaysia's website the share-trade suspension started from 11:23am. Prior to the suspension, Hovid shares changed hands at 34.5 sen for a market capitalisation of RM283 million.

Last Friday, Hovid told Bursa Malaysia that it had recalled the Ternolol 50mg film-coated tablets manufactured under the batch number BG04645.

Hovid said the product batch was manufactured in April 2016 for the Malaysian market.

"The cost of the batch and revenue generated was less than RM25,000. We DO NOT view such errors lightly and [are] presently investigating the matter.

"We will implement the required preventive measures to ensure there are no re-occurrence and (are) working closely with the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Department.

"The financial impact on the earnings and net tangible assets of the group is not significant," Hovid said.
