Global semiconductor manufacturing equipment billings up 11% y-o-y in 2Q16, says SEMI

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 13): Global semiconductor manufacturing equipment billings gained 11% in the second quarter to US$10.5 billion, from US$9.39 billion a year earlier, said the US-based Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI).

In a statement on its website, SEMI said figure was 26% higher than the billings for the first quarter. The worldwide semiconductor manufacturing equipment billings stood at US$8.28 billion in 1Q16.  

The data is gathered jointly with the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ) from over 95 global equipment companies that provide data on a monthly basis.

SEMI said worldwide semiconductor equipment bookings were US$11.9 billion in 2Q16. This is 17% higher than the bookings for 2Q15 and 27% higher than the bookings for 1Q16.
