KUALA LUMPUR (May 9): Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd has awarded a five-unit material handlers contract to HLG Equipment Sdn Bhd valued at RM14.78 million.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Bintulu Port said its subsidiary Samalaju Industrial Port Sdn Bhd has issued a letter of acceptance dated May 6 to HLG Equipment for the above contract.

According to the port services operator, the contract was for the design, construction, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of five units of material handlers to Samalaju Industrial Port.

Bintulu Port said the contract is for a duration of 10 months from the notice to commence works.

The maintenance service contract, meanwhile, will for 24 months during the warranty period.

Bintulu Port added that a rate of 0.0219% of the cost per unit price per day shall be imposed as liquidated and ascertained damages for non-performance of the above works.

Shares in Bintulu Port closed unchanged at RM6.95, for a market value of RM3.19 billion.
