Malaysian police to call Jho Low for 1MDB probe "if necessary" - DPM Zahid
KUALA LUMPUR (May 18): Malaysian police will summon Low Taek Jho to facilitate 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) investigations "if necessary", Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also home affairs minister, said in Parliament today.
Low, who is also known as Jho Low, had so far yet to meet the police for the 1MDB probe.
"The police will call the named person if necessary for him to attend to assist the police investigation. So far, there is no meeting between him and the police," Ahmad Zahid said in a written reply to Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin.
Sim had earlier asked Ahmad Zahid on Low's whereabouts and whether Low had met the police for the 1MDB investigation.
Ahmad Zahid said the police had through its Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Department launched investigations on 1MDB. He said the investigations took into account findings by the Public Accounts Committee on 1MDB.
Ahmad Zahid said the police would summon witnesses to have their statements recorded if needed.
